ZACT have performed Shakespeare at Cloudehill for many years. Last summer, we had sell-out audiences for a superb 'THE TEMPEST'. This year, prepare for Victoria’s premier ‘en plein air’ Shakespearean Company's 'Much Ado About Nothing', played out in the glorious surrounds of Cloudehill Gardens. Shakespeare was a master of comedy and this witty play is one of his best. A story of gossip, rumour and overhearing, Hero and Claudio use every trick in the book to get headstrong singletons Benedick and Beatrice to admit their love for each other and, of course, everything goes exactly according to plan. Well, almost!
The play is superbly matched by the spectacular setting at Cloudehill Gardens, renowned as Australia’s finest by serious garden lovers. Inspired by the great Renaissance gardens of Europe and the famous arts and crafts gardens of England, Cloudehill, is divided into twenty unique garden environments or "garden rooms", in the Renaissance fashion. On the gentle sloped lawns of its "Green Theatre, surrounded by perennial borders with their strong colour schemes right in flower, the dramatic forests on one side and exhilarating views to the mountains, audiences are in for a treat.
Relax and enjoy the acclaimed creativity and high performance standards of Australia’s leading outdoor Shakespeare company, OZACT. “Experiencing Shakespeare in the surrounds of one of Victoria’s most spectacular gardens has a distinctive sensual and social appeal", said OZACT Artistic Director Bruce Widdop. He invites audiences bring along a cushion, a picnic dinner with wine and someone you love, or a whole group of people you love and become enthralled in one of Shakespeare's most comedic plays. The Tempest, promises an evening to remember!
